Vietnam Military History Museum
Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi
The Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi chronicles the combat history of the nation from the days of Chinese colonization through the war with the United States. The galleries within the museum, laid out chronologically, showcases a collection of weapons, ammunition, photography and other war relics, all explained in English, and for many foreign visitors, it’s fascinating to see how these important world events are seen from the perspective of Vietnamese communism.
Of equal interest are the collection of wartime weaponry outside the museum, which includes a Soviet MiG-21 jet fighter, a U.S. F-111, a B-52 and a French transport plane. Climb the flag tower next to the museum for panoramic views from what was once the city’s tallest point.
