The Old Market (also called Psar Chas) is located east of River Road near the Wat Preah An Kau Saa in the south side of the the Old French Quarter. The Market is the main shopping spot for both locals and tourist and it is full of character. You will find the souvenir stalls around the edges but inside you can experience true local life.

Psah Chas (literally “Old Market“), is a market in the city of Siem Reap in northern Cambodia. Not to be confused with the similarly named Psah Chas in Phnom Penh that is geared toward locals, this open air market in the south of the city caters to locals and tourists alike. The market is such a fixture in Siem Reap that many businesses give their address in relation to Psah Chas.

The market is popular with tourists in the city and sells souvenirs, including T-shirts, silverware, silk, wood and stone carvings, Buddhas, and other items. It is also known for its variety of Cambodian cuisine, and has a number of food stalls which sell a variety of rices, dried fish and pork sausages, vegetables and fruits, and a Cambodian specialty Prahok, a type of fermented fish paste. Some stalls sell baguettes and spiced frogs, which is believed to be a relic of French colonialism in the area. Other stalls cook up various Khmer soups and red chili slices and peanuts.

Old Market is located at in the Siem Reap river bank , at the south end of the French’s Quarter, and the old market area is must to see when you come to visit Siem Reap, Old market is the known as the most popular market, it’s offering the a great selection of souvenirs for taking back to your country and share to your friends and family , during the day in to the early even alive with the varieties like; traditional Khmer handicraft , textile , statue and curios, this market open from 7 -8 am up to 10 or 11 pm ( for souvenirs shops ), visit this if you think is not enough should heading up to the west north walking distance about 5 to 10 minute there is other market known as Central market or New Market , it also offering you likely the same as the old market.

If you are so busy in exploring at the temples have no chance to come to the Old Market in the day time you don’t feel regret, since the number of tourists keep more and more increase, there are a few places of the settlers for making you easy to shop they have done good job with making the night Markets, The Angkor night market known as the first ever in Siem Reap, it’s located in the south of Sivatha Road about 150 m, just next before that you will see the other night market called Noon night market or PM market, it almost joined together, other night market that is so easy for you,  it called Siem Reap night market it’s located in the south of Sivatha road you just get out from your transport then here you are , all those markets are open from 6 to 12 pm, if you just would like to see how the local lives activities you could come to the High Market or Phsa Leu Thom Thmei, this market which is very well known with the local consumption , if you walk there it seem like you are the only tourists there .
