Tam Giang lagoon is the largest fresh water lagoon in South East Asia with a variety of flora and fauna. It is featured in a very famous folk verse which any Vietnamese you meet can speak out:

“Đường vô xứ Huế quanh quanh

Non xanh nước biếc nhu tranh họa đồ.

Yêu em anh cũng muốn vô,

This folk verse shows that Tam Giang Lagoon was a huge dangerous lagoon for anyone who wanted to pass into Imperial City in the past. Nowadays, along the lagoon, there is a picture of the rural life of thousands of people earning their lives and many of visitors who want to explore the natural beauty of such a boundless lagoon.

Tam Giang lagoon stretches 700km long along Thua Thien-Hue seashore where there are over 300,000 Vietnamese people living and fishing along its shores. It takes visitors 15 km long to travel from Hue Imperial City to Tam Giang Lagoon. Then you can see the pace of life in fishing villages and people who live along the lagoon. There are a lot of activities visitors can enjoy when coming here: sightseeing on a fishing boat with the local, learning traditional fishing methods, seeing traps being set to collect fish and shrimps. When the dawn comes, you will see the picture of women working hard in the water to collect the oysters and clams. All of them are brought to the local market for sale.
