Where to holiday in Vietnam?
As a Vietnamese, I have answered to so many foreigners where to holiday in Vietnam. They would like to hear from a local like me than search information from internet. Therefore, I will spend an article to write about my recommendation to holiday in Vietnam.
If you fly to Vietnam, it probably lands in Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi, the two biggest cities of Vietnam then you can start from there. I write a journey begin from Ho Chi Minh in the south head to Hanoi in the north. If you begin from Hanoi you can make the same journey head to Ho Chi Minh.
You don’t have to spend time too much in Ho Chi Minh as it is a very modern city, international style. Few days would be enough to cover all tourist points inside the city such as Ben Thanh market, Notre Dame Church, City Post Office, Independence Palace, War Museum…and some nearby destinations like Cu Chi tunnel (half day), Mekong Delta (one day), Vung Tau (one day)…But try not to miss it as Ho Chi Minh city somehow is still a very attractive destination and out of its modern looking, Vietnamese traditional style is hidden in small alleys, old streets, in crowded villages. From Ho Chi Minh City, there are so many options for you to go ahead. It is a highland with cool weather and romantic atmosphere just 300km away: Dalat city or be called the City of flower, the city of Love, a little Paris…Dalat will be suitable for you if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place. Bring with you your honey, it is cold and you will not feel lonely. You can enjoy the gentle beauty of Xuan Huong Lake, pine forest under fog in the early morning or late night. This is a very pure city full of flower, trees and grass smell.
Leave Dalat city, you can go down to sea level in Nha Trang or Mui Ne, two of the most beautiful beaches of Vietnam. It will be 400km if go from Ho Chi Minh. You can catch a bus at night in district 1 then you will be in Nha Trang when wake up in the morning. Nha Trang is a dynamic tourist city. You can’t feel bore here. There are plenty of activities like: scuba diving, boating, Vinpearl land – a resort island offers sightseeing and entertainment, clubs, night markets, pagodas, temples, beach – fun- things…Here you can read more about Nha Trang Vietnam in previous blog.
You are in the center of Vietnam now, from Nha Trang, you can travel to Da Nang – the nicest city of Vietnam. Da Nang is as modern as Ho Chi Minh but it also has calmness and placidity of Da Lat along with hot weather from the sea like Nha Trang. From Da Nang, you can rent a motor to drive to Hoi An ancient town – UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Read more about Hoi An from Hynos travel blog.
Now you can head to the north and stop by our capital: Hanoi. It is a very special city which changes its look by seasons. If you come on autumn, said the most beautiful time, you can feel Hanoi likes a woman in the most beautiful age of her like, gentle, quite silent, dreaming with yellow leaves in all streets. Some fascinated thing here you must try like: the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, the ancient art form of water puppetry, Perfume Pagoda, Hoan Kiem Lake (Turtle Lake), Ba Vi National Park…
From Hanoi, one place cannot skip is Halong Bay. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage site for its biodiversity, geology and nature, Halong Bay’s beauty and charm make it an outstanding tourism destination. Halong Bay was formed by millions of years of geological changes, which created thousands of islands. Hidden inside these are beautiful caverns such as Sung Sot, Thien Cung, Trinh Nu and Thien Canh Son Caves, and Thien Cung Grotto…
If you don’t have chance to visit Dalat from Ho Chi Minh City, you can go to Sapa from Hanoi. Sapa weather is quite similar to Dalat with cool air and fog in the early morning or late night. The scenery of the Sapa region in large part reflects the relationship between the ethnic minority people and nature. Sapa is home to various families of flowers of captivating colours, unique in the vast country and that’s why travellers can’t forget this land when they leave.
